So you finally got around to getting your home inspected and, wouldn’t you know – you failed! Don’t get too sad, don’t get too mad – just fight back at the mold. I recently spoke with an inspector in Richmond – near Houston Texas and he told me a story about one of his customers that had failed an inspection because of mold both on the inside of his house and on the outside of his house. The first thing he told the customer to do is contact a local power washing company to come out and do an in person evaluation of the problem on the outside of the house to see if they think they can clean it all up. They contacted Pressure Washing America, LLC because they live in in Richmond Texas and spoke with the owner named Daniel Simmons. He said he would be able to wash away the mold without using high pressure which was very important.
As an inspector I know how critical it is to avoid using high pressure on bricks, near windows, close to electrical outlets and a host of other places that high pressure washing should be avoided at all costs. In the end they were able to completely remove the mold from the outside of the home at a cost of around $300. The mold on the inside was going to prove to be a little tougher challenge though.
To remove the mold on the inside the homeowner needed to have some sheet rock and wallpaper removed in order to eradicate the mold. This needs to be done by a special team to make sure the mold doesn’t harm anyone or spread around the house. This ended up being a much bigger project and cost a lot more than the power washing did but in the end everyone was happy! Don’t wait until your house is falling apart to finally get it cleaned up – be proactive and save money!
